1. VfL Potsdam lost the friendly against first division team HSV Hamburg 30:35 in front of 420 spectators in the Wischelandhalle. Despite strong performances by goalkeeper Lasse Ludwig and Marcel Nowak in the first half, which was characterized by constant changes in the lead, Hamburg was able to pull ahead 15:13 at halftime.
VfL coach Bob Hanning criticized his team's lack of willingness and the inadequate performance of the newcomers. In the second half, Hamburg took advantage of Potsdam's missed throws and time penalties to extend their lead to 32:29. Potsdam was unable to catch up and the game ended 35:30 for HSV Hamburg.
