A look at history
When you hear Rot-Weiß Erfurt versus Greifswalder FC, you think of exciting duels in which both teams fight for every point. Greifswalder FC has established itself in the Regionalliga Nordost in recent years, while Rot-Weiß Erfurt can look back on a long tradition. These encounters are always intense and full of energy.
The last home game
On Maundy Thursday, Erfurt, who had not won in eight competitive matches, met the in-form Greifswald, who had been unbeaten in seven matches. The match ended 1:1 and offered the almost 5,000 spectators an exciting duel on equal terms.
Greifswald took the lead early on when Erfurt keeper Manitz misjudged a return in the 6th minute and Kocer took advantage of the gift to make it 1:0. Despite this setback, RWE showed morale and came close to equalizing through Weinhauer. Shortly before the break, Seaton had a great chance but failed to score from close range, so it was 1:0 for Greifswald at half-time.
After the break, Greifswald came into the game better, but without creating any clear chances. RWE took advantage of an opportunity when Hajrulla won a ball and served Weinhauer in the center to make it 1:1 (59th minute). Despite further efforts from both teams, the game remained a draw as neither team took any more risks.
